We're dog lovers here at Devon Coastal Cottages and we love taking our dog with us anywhere that we go and understand that you can’t leave a member of the family out when you go on holiday. The great news is that South Devon is really dog friendly; the local beaches, pubs and restaurants are all very welcoming to dogs.

Rose cottage at Lamacraft Farm is dog-friendly so pack your doggie treats, lead bowl and bed and bring your four-legged friend when you come to stay. Rose Cottage accepts one well-behaved dog. Please let us know their name on the booking form and if they’d like to star on our Facebook page we’d love to feature them! So please do share your photos with us.

It’s dog walking heaven at Rose Cottage. There are loads of places to walk your dog around Rose Cottage. There is a gated courtyard garden plus further extensive gardens and around 6 acres of field and woodland walks to explore around Lamacraft Farm. Plus, you have numerous beaches on your doorstep that are dog-friendly and The South West Coast Path is on your doorstep too. There is a path from the gardens of Lamacraft Farm down to the hamlet of Bickerton (it does get muddy) that leads down to Hallsands beach. Which is, by the way, amazing if your dog likes swimming (and great for humans too!). Or the road up to Start Point lighthouse (which is a pretty quiet road). There are also safe beaches for them to swim and secret coves for a spot of wild swimming around Start Point.

To top it all off our local gastro pub The Cricket Inn at Beesands is VERY dog friendly. As are most of the pubs and restaurants in this area.

Want to go further afield then take a trip to Dartmoor and visit Widecombe-In-The-Moor, Dartmeet or Avon Dam  or the Tors to explore. You’ll find walks of all lengths and circular walks.

Locally there are some lovely long walks especially a circular walk that takes in the lost village of Hallsands, Start Point lighthouse that features in the Independent travel section. Take a look here.

Other local places to walk to are  Prawle and Gara Rock maybe or walk to East Portlemouth and visit the Venus cafe via the South West Coast path and then catch the ferry over to Salcombe.

Here are some tips from the South West Coast Path on walking with your dog.

Note: One dog is welcome at this property and must be added when you make your booking.  There is a charge of £25 per dog. If you'd like to bring more than one then please contact us.

There are some dog rules at our properties, so please make sure you have read these before planning to bring your pet.
